I’ve been making lots and lots of art journals lately. Both the hand-bound kind and the wire-bound version, which feature re-purposed vintage book covers. I’m beyond excited, because this stack (forty eight art journals, to be precise!) will be featured in one of my favorite online shops’ fall collection. Red Velvet Art is a really awesome art collective of girls based in Springfield, Missouri. The journals will be available on their web site as well as at their new boutique.
I’m super stoked for the opportunity to work with Elsie and her friends – I’ve been following their blogs and projects for what seems like years now, and had a blast getting to know everyone a little better during Style School this spring. They’re all so talented and hard-working and fun and I’m just excited to get to be a part of it.
I’m so in love with this batch of journals. I had to take a few photos before I shipped them off. I feel like these are some of my favorite color schemes that I’ve ever put together. I love putting these books together so much – each one is so unique and it’s always really fun watching them “come to life” as I finish each one.
Here’s a couple sneak peeks. The wire-bound journals have so many neat covers with lots of really rad mid-century illustrations. Every book has a hand-picked assortment of recycled, re-purposed and found papers that are mixed with modern papers.
Packed up and ready to be shipped off! *sniff* It was actually almost a little sad to send them all away. I know they’ll find great homes though. :D
Tomorrow, I will be selling handmade items with the Bizarre Market crew at the third annual Jonny Z fest. Lots of music and fun things going on all day (I’ll be there from 12 – 5), plus a portion of all sales go to ART180, which is one of my favorite local charities.
I’ll have some new products at the show tomorrow:
Recycled Stationery Kits – cards, envelopes, paper, stickers and tags, all hand-crafted from recycled and re-purposed papers and packaged up oh-so-sweetly. (I think these will make awesome gifts.)
Mix Tape, Record Player & Boom Box Brooches – Each one is completely one of a kind. They are made from book covers! When I cut the covers for the art journals, I have pieces left over. So why not turn them into cute brooches? :D
Have a great weekend everyone!
