This is my work table right now. I’ve got two shows this weekend, so I’ve been trying to crank out lots of new stuff so I’ll have plenty to sell. These recycled book frames are quickly becoming one of my absolute favorite projects to work on. It’s so fun putting different color combinations together and inventing new patterns.
I’ve also been spending a lot of time this week working on pieces for my displays. I had one magnet board last year, and over the last few months have found two more exactly like it at the thrift stores! They’re great because they’re hinged, so they can stand up on their own (like a folding screen) or be hung up.
I decided these guys needed a coat of paint, though…
And then I fitted kraft paper to go in each “window.” Ta-da!
While I had the spray paint out, I also painted these (thrifted) plastic frames, which will hold my price signs. How cute did these come out?
Yesterday was a pretty exciting day for me, because it was the first day I got to work with my new assistant! Ashley and I met at First Friday a couple of weeks ago and hit it off right away. She’s going to be helping me out in the studio part-time a couple of nights a week, and at shows and events. She is currently going to school for Environmental Studies and loves thrift stores and music, so we obviously have in common.
I showed her how to use the button maker and she re-stocked my supply of PAPERCUTS buttons and pressed a whole bunch of super cute magnets.
Red Velvet Art did a nice little write up about me today. They’re introducing all of the new designers & artists on their team. It’s been so fun reading the posts and discovering all kinds of great new blogs.
PS: Don’t forget to go enter my awesome giveaway! You’ve got until Friday!
