More from the Lansing City Market

Recently, we had the opportunity to attend the Lansing City Market’s second annual Grand Art Market. I shared some photos of our booth last week, but today I wanted to show you a few more photos from the Lansing City Market itself.

Established in 1909, the Market’s recent reconstruction along the Grand River has strengthened Lansing’s downtown corridor by creating a welcoming home for more than 20 merchants. Currently the Market features a wide variety of goods including: local produce, fresh dairy products, artisan cheese, house-baked breads, organic meat, poultry, fresh-cut flowers, hand-dipped chocolates, Italian ice, natural heath care products, photography, gluten-free items, wine, hard cider and a several hot-prepared food merchants including a full-service bar and grill.

I stopped inside the market during the show to get a tasty treat for me, Tod and Emily. We got absolutely delicious gelato & sorbeta from Iorio’s Gelateria. I had Strawberry-Rhubarb, Emily had Peanut Butter Cup and Tod had Espresso. Mmmmm!

Back outside at the craft show, I also walked around and snapped a few photos of some of the other local artists & crafters set up.

Among my favorites at the show this weekend were The Old White House, {shop / blog} which sells great smelling natural laundry products; and Natural Selection Studio, {shop / blog} which sells incredibly beautiful carved wooden bowls.

I also had a great time chatting with Estina who makes beautiful glass tile jewelry from maps and other vintage ephemera.

PAPERCUTS at the Lansing City Market

This weekend we went to the Lansing City Market to be a part of their second annual Art Market. We had a great time & got to talk to lots of people about the shop. Tod drew caricatures, and Emily hung out with me behind the table. Not only is it nice to have someone to chat with and share snacks with, but we spent most of the afternoon art journaling behind the table.

Here are some shots of our booth set up. It’s interesting how modular everything has become.   Every show, we seem to set things up in a slightly different way.. and each time, I think – this is it. This is the best configuration possible. But then the next show, I try something new and love that.

Regardless, this is my favorite set up we’ve ever done. Everything was displayed nicely, I think.

Here are a bunch more pictures!

This weekend we visited my family’s camp site in Hopkins, MI and participated in the campground’s Flea Market. We sold lots, and had a really fun time. It was awesome getting to talk to people about the shop and all of our plans! We got lots of great feedback and support!

Here are just a few shots of the booth. It’s interesting how each show we go to, the set up is just a little bit different… We forgot our tent walls (oops!) but at least it was a beautiful day!

I also did a tiny bit of shopping a scored these antique egg baskets from the sweetest old man. I’ve been having so much fun looking for unique vintage and antique bins, baskets and displays for the shop. It’s going to be so awesome to see it all come together in the next month or so.

Antique Egg Baskets I scored at the flea market this weekend!

Summertime Craft Show Fun!

PAPERCUTS handmade Booth

On July 4, I had the opportunity to set up a booth here in my home town to celebrate not just Independence Day but also Eaton Rapids’ 175 anniversary! It was over 100 degrees, but we suffered through the heat and got to say hi and sell art journals and other one-of-a-kind recycled goodies to lots of local folks!

Here are a few shots of PAPERCUTS handmade products and how I display them at local craft shows. I put a lot of effort and careful planning into my displays, packaging, signage, etc. and I’m very proud of how it all comes together. :)

Hey Look! An Update from CM!

DIXIE says:

Why did you stop blogging? I just found you and you make me smile. I love your style and I would love to see more art journal pages!

Hey Dixie!

I promise didn’t quit blogging, I’ve just been super-busy getting PAPERCUTS ready for Summer shows. :D (I’ve also been sick more frequently this year than ever before in my life. My doctor says that’s what happens when kids start school: they bring home all kinds of germs to their parents. :P)

Proof I go outside sometimes.

My schedule has opened up a bit, and I’m going to be devoting time to blogging daily again for the foreseeable future. (By the way, guys: if I disappear, don’t worry about me! Remember, I’m an introvert. sometimes I just have to hide from the Internet for a couple of weeks. ;D)

Re: Art Journal pages. I have been still working on my 366 project, but I am sorely overdo for scanning & sharing some pages!! (In case you haven’t been following along, I’ve been sharing art journal pages on tumblr & flickr. I’ll have some new pages to share this week(!), along with a fun DIY tomorrow ($6 faux plastic camera anyone?) and photos from PAPERCUTS July 4th (It was also the 175 Anniversary of my home town!) craft show booth.

By the way, even when I don’t blog, I update my tumblr pretty much daily. If you don’t use tumblr (no really, why are you not using tumblr?) you can also see my most recent tumblr updates in the sidebar of my blog! It automatically updates when my tumblr does.

I’m also on instagram! Follow me and say hi! :D

It's official: my hair is long as hell.

PS: This video is crazy inspiring! Jonah Lehrer is amazing!
