I printed this set out onto brown kraft paper – I love how they turned out!! I also used a metallic gold ink pad (for rubber stamps) to smudge against the edges. It makes them “pop” a bit, and the metallic touch is really pretty. (I did the same thing with my mini-album pages, by the way!)

Hello, friends!  Friday is here and I’m looking forward to spending the weekend with my family.  We’ve got some loose plans, but probably won’t go far.  The weeks seem to zip by these days and spending the weekends in our pajamas has been keeping us sane.  It’s nice to spend quality time with each other: reading, listening to music, watching cartoons, getting in serious playtime with Jonah.  Even running errands and catching up on housework can be enjoyable when I get to do it with my boys.

This Sunday is Father’s Day so be sure to call your Pop!  Here’s today’s Freebie Friday: a Printable Card Craft sheet.  Nothing says “dad” to me more than a mid-century man in a starched shirt and crew cut, puffing on his pipe.  You can print out these four vintage dads and use them to make your own Father’s Day cards – or use them in your collage, scrapbook or art journal pages!  Enjoy!

Hey guys! I’ve got a new feature I’d like to unveil called “Freebie Friday”!  Each Friday, I’ll post something fun for you to download and print! 

This week, I’ve got six gorgeous book plates (also known as Ex-Libris labels) that I’ve found in various vintage books.  Use these to put your name in your books, so that when you loan them to friends, they won’t forget to give them back to you!  Print these out, and cut & paste them into your favorite books (or your own art journal!)  You can print them onto regular paper and use a glue stick, or print them onto sticker paper & make it even easier!

A bookplate, also known as ex-librīs [Latin, "from the books of..."], is usually a small print or decorative label pasted into a book, often on the inside front cover, to indicate its owner. Simple typographical bookplates are termed ‘book labels’.

Bookplates typically bear a name, motto, device, coat-of-arms, crest, badge, or any motif that relates to the owner of the book, or is requested by him from the artist or designer. The name of the owner usually follows an inscription such as "from the books of . . . " or "from the library of . . . ", or in Latin, ex libris ….

Speaking of books, I almost forgot to mention that earlier this week I got an invite from a friend to meet up at a local coffee shop and bring a few books that I’d already read and was ready to pass onto someone else.  We laid the books out and talked briefly about what they were about, how we liked them, etc. Then, we took turns picking out several new books each.  It was a fun afternoon and I got to meet some new people and now my “to read” stack is formidable!

PS: if you’re in Richmond, be sure to stop by Lamplighter and try the “Red-Headed Step Child”: 1/2 Chai tea, 1/2 Cider with a ginger infusion.  I got mine iced and it was delicious!

MY HAIR IS BLUE!

You guys, I am so in love with my hair right now.  I’m no stranger to hair dye, or even blue hair dye, but it had been a while.  I’d kind of thought that I’d lost the urge to do it anymore, but then got a real urge to dye it again while we were at DEVO.  I decided to use a little birthday money to splurge on some hair dye, and there you go.

I’m thinking I might need to do a “Corey’s Hair Retrospective.”  I’ll have to dig through some photos.  [Sarah, maybe you can help me out?  You were always the photographer those days! :D]

I didn’t get it cut, by the way, that’s just all piled on top of my head.  (I’m kind of obsessed with doing my hair this way right now.)  Tod took photos of me last night (♥) and I was being a nerd and pretending I was on America’s Next Top Model. (I didn’t come here to make friends. ;))

See, it’s still long.  I’m fairly sure, in fact, that this is the longest that I’ve ever had it while it was dyed a bright color.  This is also the first time I’ve done my whole head since Jonah was born.  I picked him up from day care yesterday and he said it was “kinda pretty.” :D

More goofing around.  Tod was getting this great light in our bathroom.

Hair Dye + Eye Shadow = ♥

Now that I’ve been doing some embroidery stuff in my “Style School” class, I’m getting a little obsessed.  To make a page like this: Cut one piece of felt 4″ wide by 8.5″ tall.  Fold the bottom up and stitch (I used my machine but you could hand stitch) to make a pocket!

Another thing I’m loving about these 4″ x 6″ albums is all of the note cards that are out there that are the perfect size.  I’ve found ten packs of adorable cards & envelopes for a buck at Target, Michaels & Joann Fabrics.  Just punch holes and stick ‘em in with your pages.  You can leave the card as is, or use it as a “blank” page.  You can do the same thing with the envelopes, too!

If you get index prints when you get your photos printed, this is a fun thing to stick in, too. This strip has a bunch of fun shots from our honeymoon, so it made me smile lots.

And keep an eye out for the big (and free!) paint chips when you’re at the home stores.  I think that one came from Lowes.

But my favorite thing is just sticking whole photos in.  Like this goofy one of Tod at Sea World when we had just started dating. :D

“Landscape” photos work just as well, too!

Each set has 4 unique designs.  I had a lot of fun drawing all kinds of cute animal friends and writing silly cute puns to go along with them.  I also tried to keep each pack fairly gender-neutral and non-suggestive.  I think these would be a fun alternative for parents who didn’t want to buy licensed character Valentines this year.    And since they don’t actually say “Valentines” anywhere on them, you can re-print these cards all year long to use as sweet love notes.

So this is the latest:

It took me about six do-overs but I’ve finally figured out the perfect format for these Circle Craft sheets.  Here are the ones that go with the I LOVE YOU set.

Cupcake Toppers are the best!  So simple, too (it’s just taped to a tooth pick!)

They also make great labels for packaging deserts and party favors.  These are Rice Krispee treats which are then covered with peanut butter and chocolate and then cut out with a heart shaped cookie cutter.  They’re pretty much our new obsession around here.  They taste just like a Nutty Bar, but… dare I say it? Better!

Here are all of the designs.  Aren’t they fun and cute? I’m in love with this color scheme right now.

The circles are just over 1.5″, but the design on the inside is a perfect one inch circle.  So you can use either size punch to get exactly what you need.  They also fit in a 1.5″ Xyron sticker maker, so you can have instant stickers!

The other thing that I’m loving about this whole printable thing is just how versatile everything is.  Check out how much different the same sheet looks when it’s printed on white card stock, kraft paper and vellum.

I’ve been working on this for the last few weeks, and I’m super excited to introduce the first in a series of Printable Mini Album Kits.  This one is an album that you can make for the love of your life.  It’s just in time for Valentines Day, and would make a great personalized gift for your someone special.  You get 20 different 4″ x 6″ sheets, which you can print out on your home computer and then put together into a cute and easy little album.

You can print out each page as many times as you want!  Mess up?  No big deal, just print another one out!  You can also try printing them onto different types of paper for different effects.  White card stock will give you a brighter palette, and printing onto colored or textured paper will give you a still vibrant but slightly subdued look.

I printed mine out onto brown kraft paper, and cut out all the pages.  Then I had a ton of fun putting the pages together and adding photos.
