I spent most of today watching episodes of the Cosby Show and updating the PAPERCUTS handmade shop! Lots of new Wire-Bound Recycled Art Journals, as well as some new Screen-Printed Clip Pouches that I had at the craft shows this summer but hadn’t yet listed.

I’ve got lots of other items to list this weekend, so I hope you’ll stop by and take a peek! Since it’s a big shopping weekend here in the US, I’m also offering 15% off any purchase! Just enter the code “HAPPYHOLIDAYS” when you check out!!

Muppet Show Fan Art

the_muppet_show

I thought I’d draw some Muppet Show fan art to celebrate the release of the new movie. I haven’t seen it yet, but I’m looking forward to sneaking off for a matinee date with the Mister sometime soon! This was way too much fun to draw. I need to draw more fan art. :D

PS: Sorry for disappearing! My back’s been bothering me again, but I’ve got lots of cool things to share with you.

I ♥ Eaton Rapids

Tod & I have been having so much fun exploring Eaton Rapids. This week has been nice enough still to go out in just a jacket or a sweater, and we’ve been enjoying the sunshine. Since days are ending earlier, we were getting this incredible early evening light when we went out for our walk yesterday at four in the afternoon.

I’ve also been having a lot of fun attempting to “capture the essence” of my home town in photos and blog posts. I keep discovering parts of the town that I’ve never seen before. Yesterday we went for a walk through the Old Athletic Field (where my dad used to umpire baseball games when I was a kid!!) and followed a wooded path to a clearing where the river just creates an awesome view.

Here are some of the photos we took:

What I wore: Exploring

What I Wore

Yesterday, Tod & I went exploring and checking out (the outside of) a cool, possibly abandoned book store here in town. I’m kind of in love. How amazing is this wall behind me? Paint + masonry + nature + time = beautiful wall.

What I Wore

Mah Hurrrrr. I’ve officially been blue for over a year now!! I’m really proud of that in a kind of dorky way.  I dyed my hair for most of my early twenties, but I wasn’t sure if I thought I could pull it off long-term now. I sort of feel like I wear it better now than I did then!

What I Wore

…and my favorite Nerd Hunk. (He’s wearing a rad Built to Spill shirt we got at their show & a Converse Jacket.)

What I Wore

What I Wore What I Wore

I’m wearing a turquoise striped tee, olive denim skirt, and the same grey sweater that I always wear. Silver tights & my favorite scarf. Everything either came from the thrift store or my sister, except the scarf (which I think I got at Target a few years ago) and the tights (which came from Kohl’s.)

What I Wore

Now that I’ve done a few of these outfit posts, I’m slowly starting to feel more comfortable in front of the camera. I’m also quickly realizing that I am overdue for some new threads. A proper thrifting trip with my sister is imminent!!

What I Wore

PS: This is how I wore my hair (like basically every day) when I was in high school. Truth.

Oh Christmas Tree!

On Sunday, we put up our Christmas Tree. It still feels a little early, but I’ve got some plans for some Christmas items for the PAPERCUTS shop, as well as a couple of tutorials for the blog here… so I needed to kick start the Holiday Season a bit early over here to get myself “in the mood.”

Christmas Decor

We bought an artificial tree a few years back. (I’ve heard varying arguments on whether an artificial tree is actually eco-friendly or not, but I figure as long as we keep using the same one over and over, it’s better than cutting down a new one each year. While I miss the romantic nature of going to the tree lot & the smell of a real tree, I’m a big fan of pre-strung lights and not vacuuming up dead pine needles.)

Christmas Decor

Jonah is pretty excited. He put the star on top (with Tod’s help, of course) but we did the rest of the decorating after he went to bed. I feel like this year will be pretty magical for him. We’ll also undoubtedly spent a lot of time with my family, which will bring a lot of the holiday magic back for me, too.

Christmas Decor

Tod & I have a yearly tradition of getting toasty on spiked eggnog and singing Christmas songs while decorating the tree. This ornament was a gift from my mother the first Christmas we were married…

Christmas Decor

…and we made these Cinnamon Ornaments together the in 2004, living together in a 1 bedroom apartment in San Diego – the little gingerbread kitty was made because we’d just gotten a tiny little Puff named Rocky. These ornaments are 7 years old, and they still smell great!!

Before we’d set up the tree, I “caught” Jonah reading one of the Christmas books from last year. He loves to read, and we read books every day, but this was one of the first times I’ve seen him sneak off to read on his own. Needless to say, I spent a lot of my childhood hanging out with my nose in a book, so this photo makes me pretty happy.
